Official Announcement from Falmouth Sound

The two day live music event Falmouth Sound which was due to be held on 29th and 30th August 2009 at Events Square, Falmouth has been cancelled.

The following is an official statement from the organisers of Falmouth Sound 09:

“It is with deep regret that we announce that Falmouth Sound will not be going ahead this year. It has been an agonising decision on our part as we have spent so much time and money trying to bring this high quality music event to the town. Unfortunately due to difficult economic conditions advanced ticket sales have not reached a point that would warrant staging such a large-scale event. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our team for their hard work and those people who purchased tickets and supported the event.”

Ticket holders are advised to contact the ticket retailer they purchased from direct to arrange a full refund. Those people who purchased from the beach hut ticket office at Events Square will be contacted by the Falmouth Sound team shortly.

Following our hugely popular competition run in collaboration with What’s On, two lucky bands won the opportunity to open the event.

The band chosen to kick off Falmouth Sound was the Ice Cold Idiots. With a combined aged of 36, these pint-sized rockers are a three-piece known to thrill crowds wherever they go.

And opening the show with a bang on Sunday will be Julian Gaskell and his Ragged Trousered Philanthropists whose unique blend of stomping skiffle is one not to be missed.

All of the daytime gigs are open free to the public who can kick-back and relax to some of the best music around.

On Saturday the line-up features the Ice Cold Idiots, Hollie Rogers, Break Cover and Ruarri Joseph.

While Sunday features Julian Gaskell and the Ragged Trousered Philanthropists, People’s String Foundation, Circus of Sound and Backbeat Sound System.

As we groove into Saturday evening the ticketed event will feature The Wombats, The Boxer Rebellion, Fink, Foy Vance and Melo Park.

The following evening the stage will be awash with legends including The Wailers, The Neville Staple Band –featuring two-tone legend and member of The Specials, Neville Staple – who will be accompanied by ska songstress Pauline Black, along with Gaddidon and Pete King.

Falmouth Sound will be one of the few opportunities to see The Wombats and The Wailers this summer so to be sure not to miss out head over to the Ticket Angels website www.ticketangels.co.uk/ and get your tickets now.

Physical Tickets will be available early next week from The Poly cinema in Falmouth and Quintessential in Truro, near Bunters! There will be a small booking fee on top of what you pay for the ticket, but you will have a lovely shiny piece of card, and you can hold and caress it in eager anticipation of the big day! Look out for more venues to buy from in the near future, we’ll be adding spots in PZ, Falmouth and St. Austell, and you can always buy online or over the phone 0844 209 2020 from Ticket Angels.

Big thanks to all the bands who’ve written in asking whether there are any slots free at FS09 – we’re all booked up, and will be releasing the final daytime lineup next week. There is still one chance to get on the lineup though, as we’ll be running a competition through the West Briton to open the daytime session on each day. Look out for more news here next week, or pick up a copy of the WB!

If you’re having trouble purchasing over the phone or the net, tickets will soon be available from a box office on Events Square. We’re also releasing a child rate ticket, following a couple of requests: tickets for kids under 13 will cost 50% of the adult rate, but each child must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
