Pete King

With a career in reggae spanning 30 years and a record collection envied the world over, Pete King managed and produced Steel Pulse through the height of their fame. He’ll be delving into the rich and loamy depths of his record box to provide Falmouth with a solid foundation on which to base a night’s stomping, shaking and skanking.

Playing his first set at the tender age of 13, Pete rocked his cotemporaries and bamboozled parents when he spun a mix of Blue Beat Rock Steady and Reggae. Giving Steel Pulse their break with Island Records amongst the clouds of smoke and the click of dominoes Birmingham born Pete was accepted into the fold for his obvious love and dedication to Jamaican music. He’s a pioneer of the reggae movement in this country, and it will be more than a pleasure to see what glittering musical gems he pulls out of his record box this year at Falmouth Sound.
